THE residents of Glenholt are already counting the costs of having a Tory/Lib Dem Government and a Tory council.

I estimate that to enjoy all the amenities that we pay for in council tax, we shall need Pounds 500 a year for taxi fares: unless, of course, the city council sees fit to restore the subsidies to our five-day-a-week taxi bus, which is to be axed on August 6 as part of the cost cutting. This service is a lifeline to the elderly and disabled of Glenholt, who will not be able to shop, get to the library or to the doctor’s surgery, unless they are prepared to hire a taxi. Will Cllr Vivien Pengelly perhaps take Pounds 500 off our rates? JEAN NOSWORTHY Plymouth
